Dollars 4 Doses

Cash Incentives for COVID-19 Vaccines

Beginning Saturday, February 12, Greater Cleveland Congregations and the Centers for Families and Children will host “Dollars for Doses” vaccine clinics at GCC partner congregations on Cleveland’s East Side. Janssen (J&J), Moderna and Pfizer vaccines and boosters will be available to those five years and older.

“Data shows that with cash incentives unvaccinated individuals are more likely to receive the vaccine and refer others to do the same,” said Keisha Krumm, GCC executive director and lead organizer. “We have seen this approach work successfully in our prior work around vaccination uptake, and we are ready to relaunch our project on a larger scale.”

Individuals who come to the vaccine clinic will receive $50 cash for their first vaccine, $100 for their second and $25 for their booster. Individuals will also receive $25 for every friend they bring to get vaccinated.

Seven GCC member congregations – trusted institutions in their neighborhoods – will serve as vaccination sites for the 16 clinics over the course of the seven months. The sites include Elizabeth Baptist Church (Slavic Village); Antioch Baptist Church and Olivet Institutional Baptist Church (Fairfax); Lee Road Baptist Church (Lee-Harvard); Imani United Church of Christ (Euclid); Shiloh Baptist Church (Central); and South Euclid United Church of Christ (South Euclid/Cleveland Heights).

We're Onto Something and We Need Your Help!

We are estimating that the campaign will need funding to provide cash incentives to 3,000-6,000 people in low-vaccination neighborhoods, costing between $210,000 to $420,000 in cash incentives. In addition to the cash incentives, funds are needed to cover host church staffing and security.

Please consider a donation to help us sustain this critically important campaign to get as many people as possible vaccinated. You can donate to the Dollars for Doses campaign in two ways:

  1. Mail your donation to Greater Cleveland Congregations, 6114 Francis Ave, Cleveland, OH 44127
