Cuyahoga Community College District, Ohio, Issue 5, Property Tax Increase and Renewal Measure

Don’t all click at once and crash the Ballotpedia servers, but there’s a property tax increase and renewal measure for Cuyahoga County on the November 7 ballot. Maybe not terribly exciting, but very important.

YES: A “yes” vote supports the Cuyahoga Community College levy, which will continue to keep tuition affordable and support up-to-date technical education and workforce training. The increase would begin in 2024 and continue for 10 years.

NO: A “no” vote opposes the levy.

Here’s what Issue 5 looks like on BallotpediaCuyahoga County Issue 5 is on the ballot as a referral in Cuyahoga County on November 7, 2023.

  • A "yes" vote supports renewing the existing property tax of 2.1 mills and increases the rate by 0.4 mills to a total of 2.5 mills ($67 per $100,000 assessed value) for ten years to fund the Cuyahoga Community College District's operating costs.
  • A "no" vote opposes renewing the existing property tax of 2.1 mills and increases the rate by 0.4 mills to a total of 2.5 mills ($67 per $100,000 assessed value) for ten years to fund the Cuyahoga Community College District's operating costs.

We can’t tell you how to vote, BUT … for every dollar invested in education at Tri-C, the community sees $9.40 in benefits. That’s a pretty great ROI. Just sayin’.
