We Are Not Standing Idly By

Greater Cleveland Congregations is one of the national leaders in an effort called "Do Not Stand Idly By," organized by our parent organization, the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), along with many other IAF affiliates.

One of our first wins was the passing of the first-of-its-kind resolution aimed at gun manufacturer Sturm Ruger's shareholder meeting that requires detailed reporting on Sturm Ruger's safety and distribution practices, as well as its investment in smart gun technology.

Most recently we have joined in efforts to bring together innovators of safe guns, gun purchasers, and elected officials to move gun manufacturers to adopt life-saving gun safety regulations and bring safe guns to market.

Through Greater Cleveland Congregation's efforts, Toledo's mayor recently signed on to Do Not Stand Idly By's activities around gun safety technology. Cincinnati's mayor has also signed on to the campaign and is facilitating the crating of a procurement strategy to be presented at U.S. Conference of Mayors national meeting in 2019.
