Greater Cleveland Congregations is one of the national leaders in an effort called "Do Not Stand Idly By."
One of our first wins was the passing of the first-of-its-kind resolution aimed at gun manufacturer Sturm Ruger's shareholder meeting that requires detailed reporting on Sturm Ruger's safety and distribution practices, as well as its investment in smart gun technology.
We have joined in efforts to bring together innovators of safe guns, gun purchasers, and elected officials to move gun manufacturers to adopt life-saving gun safety regulations and bring safe guns to market.
Most recently, our work has resulted in the City of Cleveland joining other major Ohio cities in signing on to the Do Not Stand Idly By campaign. This means Cleveland has now joined the effort to create a procurement strategy that will result in municipalities purchasing and utilizing safer guns.
