WE the PEOPLE Action Evaluation

Date/Time: Thursday, November 4 | 7:00 PM EST

We will gather virtually on Thursday, November 4th, to evaluate our October 7th We the People Action that was held both virtually and in person at Shiloh Baptist Church in the Central community. The evaluation will be an opportunity for GCC leaders to share their reactions to the event while it is hopefully still fresh in our minds. If you need a refresher of the evening, you can see it all on YouTube.

Our neighborhood captains will also join the evaluation event to share how the Action impacted their voter engagement work in the five key neighborhoods -- Central, Fairfax, Lee-Harvard, Mt. Pleasant and Slavic Village.

GCC University

Date/Time: November 11, 16, 17 | 5:30-8:30 pm

Topic/Category: Greater Cleveland Congregations

GCC has engaged lots of new leaders this past year with individuals stepping up to work on our Battle for Democracy and Criminal Justice campaigns. Now that people see how we work and how that work leads to real change, we are bringing back our GCC University opportunity so leaders can learn about how we organize and the skills we practice to create change. 

GCC University Training

What is covered: Three sessions will cover areas such as an overview of broad-based power, how to do meaningful and productive one-to-one relational meetings, why and how to do a power analysis and how to break down problems into issues we can do something about.

Who should sign up: New core team leaders, new core team members, neighborhood captains, anyone new to GCC or any leader looking for a refresher.

CJ Bail Reform Teach-Ins

Date/Time: Tuesday, Nov. 9, 30 and Dec. 7 | 7:00-8:30pm

Topic/Category: Criminal Justice Research Action Teams

GCC’s Criminal Justice/Bail Reform Team invites all who want to know more about Bail in our country, state, county, city – and its costs to our people and to public/private finances – to join us in two Teach-Ins:

  • The History of Bail -- Tuesday, November 9th, 7-8:30 pm -- We will learn how bail has evolved and impacted us.

The Teach-Ins are the first steps in our research actions.  Next steps include more focused research, power analysis and proposals of action for change.
