GCC Addressing Issues Around COVID-19 Vaccine

Written by GCC

On February 19th, GCC hosted its first pop-up COVID-19 vaccine site at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Slavic Village, partnering with Better Health Partnership, the Ohio State Health Department, Circle and Center Health FQHCs and the Ohio National Guard to provide vaccinations to 200 African-American seniors, 92% of those who registered.

GCC will have new vaccine pop-up sites at Affinity Missionary Baptist Church this Friday, March 5th, and at Olivet Institutional Baptist Church this Saturday, March 6th. More information will be forthcoming.

On Sunday, February 28th, GCC hosted a virtual town hall that focused on the COVID-19 vaccine and addressed concerns around accessibility, resources and support within Cleveland's African-American faith community. The town hall, which attracted over 300 attendees, featured medical professionals, scientists, community stakeholders and faith leaders who provided critical information, important data and responses to questions from those in attendance.

In a a poll taken at the conclusion of the event, 144 attendees said that the town hall helped them decide to take the COVID vaccine.
